I’m not an expert on PC transfer kits. I only used this once, since I only had one PC to transfer. Also, I’ve never used a PC transfer kit before. That being said, once I got it set up it did what the package promised–moved my files and programs from my old Windows XP PC to my new Windows 7 machine.
Installing the program wasn’t hard, but it was finicky. I got it to install on the first try, but it did require a number of steps first on one PC and then the other and I had to read the instructions carefully.
The kit comes with an ethernet cable to connect the old PC and the new one directly. Once everything was installed I only had to start the transfer and wait. The transfer took about 8 hours; this may have been due to my old PC being much slower than the new one.
The results were very satisfactory, but they weren’t perfect. PCmover transferred my web browser and favorites, but the passwords for many sites didn’t make the transition. The same is true for programs that require a serial number for validation. Likely this is due to those sites’ and programs’ security setup; I don’t think this is a flaw in the transfer kit, just something to be aware of.
All in all, PCmover isn’t perfect, but it saved me a lot of work and it was worth buying.

PCmover gets the job done at an exceptionally reasonable price, but for me it was neither easy nor flawless because of how the technology has changed recently.
If you need to move the contents from, say, a 1T hard disk drive Windows 10 computer to a new Windows 10 machine running on a 1T or 2T HDD, just follow the instructions very carefully and you’ll probably be fine. However, I had to transfer from a Windows 10 1T HDD to a new hybrid computer with a 256GB solid state drive and a 1T hard disk. Unfortunately, PCmover tries to put everything on the 256GB drive, which is the C drive. The bigger hard disk is for data. The OS, desktop, pictures, etc., land there by default.
I eventually got the job done, but in the process lost functionality on a couple of older programs. This may have been a 32bit vs 64bit issue, but I don’t know for sure. I figured out how to move most data files to the D hard disk, but it wasn’t easy, and I have to be careful because the C drive is very full.
My recommendation: if you’re migrating from a hard disk to a hybrid configuration, hire the Geek Squad to do it for you.

I had to down load a updated copy to both of my computers and while it was gathering the computer information it started to try to reconnect to the ether net cable port instead of the WI FI it was using. i tryed tech support and have not heard back from them.

PCMover was easy to install. It helped to print out the instructions. The transfer took less time as originally posted by the software.

Software was working but it took a very long time to run the transfer process. The first time I went to the store the sales associate had no idea that you had this software. I came back to return what I was given and found the correct software myself.
